Managing WordPress Updates

Keep WordPress core, plugins, and themes up to date from the BlitzPress panel.

Update Scanning

Click “Scan for Updates” to check all components:

• WordPress core version and available update
• All installed plugins with current and available versions
• All installed themes with current and available versions
• Auto-update status for each component

Updating Components

You can update individual items or use bulk update to update everything at once.

Pre-Update Backup

By default, BlitzPress creates a BorgBackup archive before every update. If an update breaks your site, you can restore to the pre-update state in one click.

Auto-Updates

WordPress 5.5+ supports auto-updates for plugins and themes. From the panel, you can enable or disable auto-updates per component.

• Recommended: Enable auto-updates for security plugins and minor WordPress releases
• Caution: Disable auto-updates for page builders and complex plugins that may need testing

Update Results

After updates complete, the panel shows per-item results:

• Success — updated from version X to Y
• Failed — error message with details
• Partial — some items updated, others failed (individual errors shown)
