FTP/SFTP Access
FTP & SFTP Access
Set up FTP accounts for file access without SSH. BlitzPress uses Pure-FTPd with TLS encryption.
Setting Up FTP
From the panel, go to your site → FTP Accounts → Install FTP Server (first time only).
This installs and configures Pure-FTPd with:
- TLS encryption (mode 2: accepts plain FTP and FTPS)
- Virtual users via PureDB (no Linux system accounts needed)
- Passive mode on ports 40110-40210 (auto-opened in UFW)
- Self-signed certificate for TLS connections (valid 10 years)

Recommended FTP Clients
- FileZilla (Windows/Mac/Linux) — use “Explicit FTP over TLS”
- Cyberduck (Mac/Windows)
- WinSCP (Windows) — also supports SFTP
SFTP Alternative
If your VPS has SSH access, you can also use SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) without installing the FTP server. Connect with any SFTP client using your SSH credentials on port 22.
